That’s how many photos it will take to make Hanna Frightful.
Orlando, FL - Contemporary artist and filmmaker Patrick Fatica’s newest project is Hanna Frightful. It’s his follow-up to his award winning short film MONSTER. Hanna is headed to Kickstarter on February 9th to lock up the remaining funds as it continues its production. Hanna Frightful is a 15 minute stop motion animated short film. It's the story of Hanna, a young girl with unknown powers and these powers are fueled by fear. Hanna finds that her life and the people in it are not what she thought. It’s up to her, with help from a little girl called Lou, to find out who created her and why.
After 16 months and hundreds of hours of work Hanna Frightful is gearing up for it’s Kickstarter launch on February 9th at noon. The sets are built, the characters have been created, and the script is polished. Using what he’s learned from his previous film MONSTER, his years of stage shows with collaborator Blue Star, and over a decade of gallery shows, Patrick Fatica puts it all on the table with his largest project to date. What’s most impressive is that he has done the entire project essentially by himself. He’s the sole creator, writer, director, producer, animator, fabricator, set designer, builder, model maker, camera operator, editor, and sound designer. He’s has had some help though from his costume designer Kyla Swanberg and a music score by Haui Balthesar. Voice actors have yet to be cast, but auditions will be held in the coming weeks.
Patrick has been keeping a detailed blog with tons of photos throughout the last 16 months. He composed it as a guide for any future stop-motion DIY filmmakers, showing how all of the different parts of the film have come together. Patrick says about the film, “It’s been a huge learning experience. It’s been tedious, and mentally exhausting, but it is also the most rewarding thing I’ve ever worked on.”
Patrick will be offering a variety of rewards for helping with the Kickstarter campaign. Original artwork, Limited Edition prints, producer credits, and an invitation to see the finished film are just the tip of the iceberg. He has paid for this entire project out of pocket up until now. He is looking for the remaining funds from art lovers and supporters to add the special bells and whistles that will help make Hanna Frightful everything he thought it could be and more.

MONSTER Film Festivals
The 11th ANOTHER HOLE IN THE HEAD Genre Film Festivals returns to SF Dec 5-14 with screenings at the New People Cinema in Japantown and parties and special events getting planned right now. The schedule will be announced in early November, so check back then!

The February festival, founded in 2010 to embrace and appreciate the art of the short film, was first shown at the Greater Sanford Regional Chamber of Commerce. Since then it has been presented at the 1923 Wayne Densch Performing Arts Center, one of a handful of historic theaters remaining in Florida. During the festival, film fans can view films up to 30 minutes each in a variety of categories and attend film workshops.
Embracing the medium of short film, Tally Shorts Film Festival is excited to bring a truly unique and independent cinema experience to North Florida with the goal of increasing community awareness and support for film as a cultural and economic asset. The Fort Myers Film Festival is an intelligent independent filmmaker's preferred event to create, unite and showcase the finest artistic cinematic works. The festival event offers ‘the most vibrant intellectual and edgy crowd to grace Lee County in decades.’ The event has featured hundreds of local filmmakers and is a must attend for cineasts who love indie film and film festivals living in Lee, Collier and Charlotte counties. That’s right, Fort Myers has a film festival now, so come out for the excitement!
The DIY Film Festival was founded in 2000 as an offshoot of the DIY Convention: Do It Yourself in Film, Music and Books. The convention teaches filmmakers, authors, musicians and entrepreneurs how to create, promote, protect and distribute independent film, music and books. We screen year-round in Los Angeles and at various times in other cities in the U.S.A. in conjunction with our seminars and other events. Sometime in Late February, Early March we have an awards banquet where winning films or clips of the longer ones are screened and filmmakers are honored for their work. Also, links to the winning films,or their pages are promoted, and highlighted for the winning filmmakers.

2015 is our tenth anniversary and we expect it to be our biggest year ever! Those who attend our festival are treated to an excellent Labor Day weekend. premiers of film from around the world, seminars, and an awards show to inspire film makers. More important, the executive director is accessible throughout the entire event. I was inspired by Producer/Director Jerry Lewis who's Labor Day telethon was an industry staple as long as I can remember. He worked long hours and made sure his guests were entertained. I come to you with the same promise. If you attend the Central Florida Film Festival I will work long hours to ensure my guests and the artists involved have a quality, informative and entertaining weekend.
Founded in 2003, the DC Shorts Film Festival was created by DC-based filmmaker, Jon Gann, in response to the dozens of festivals he attended the previous year with his award-winning film, Cyberslut. Frustrated that many festivals were focused on money and sponsors and not films and filmmakers, he decided to start his own event, focusing on the form he loves — shorts.
In 2006, the DC Film Alliance, a non-profit arts organization, was created to present the DC Shorts Film Festival, and offer other programs and resources for Washington, D.C.-based filmmakers. The Alliance helped to bridge the gap between other area film organizations, foster a community for regional film festival directors, and sponsored monthly Salons to educate filmmakers of all levels.
Here Be Dragons is the new name for the Nine Worlds Film Festival, which has been attached to the fantastically popular Nine Worlds Geekfest - the largest residential sci-fi convention in England - for the past three years.

Arizona Underground Film Festival is Arizona’s only premier genre cult film festival, and one of the biggest underground film festivals in the country! We make it our sole mission to showcase the work of filmmakers with defiantly independent visions. We are on a quest to represent every genre of independent film from across the world celebrating the artist, and their work.
We are now celebrating our 8th year as one of the nation’s top underground cult film festivals. It will be a 9 day celebration running from Sept. 18th to 26th 2015. We will have films from categories of Narrative, Horror, Documentaries, Experimental, Animation, and we are proud to offer an Exploitation category. Join us in the underground!
The Eerie Horror Film Festival is an internationally recognized competition that takes place each year in Erie, Pa. (USA). We focus on the art of independent film making and screenwriting in the horror, science fiction and suspense genres. Films are selected from the hundreds of submissions we receive each season and are then shown on the big screen over the course of our multi-day event. Prizes are awarded to best movies and scripts. In addition to the film screenings, we also host an Expo during our event featuring celebrity guests and vendors from around the country as well as seminars and workshops.
